STEP UP: Dolph Ziggler
Dolph Ziggler is the hottest star in the WWE right now. He beat four guys at Survivor Series against insurmountable odds, and was featured in the same main event segment as John Cena, Triple H and Sting. He’s racking up the wins – which ultimately don’t matter, but have helped keep him over since the PPV. And for once the system seems to be working: you win matches, you get title opportunities. I hope that Dolph’s match with Luke Harper doesn’t get lost in the noise next Sunday at TLC. Those two have excellent in-ring chemistry and should be able to steal the show if they’re allowed to.
Dolph has been here before though. He’s been in the main event, and he’s been the “internet darling” on numerous occasions. He’s been world champion and had high profile matches, but it never sticks. That momentum is never used. Looking at the WrestleMania match card, where does he fit in? Don’t expect him to be in any main event level program, because the extra star power just isn’t there. This is a company that has dropped the ball with Ziggler more often than not, and maybe it’s the cynic in me, but I can’t help but assume they’re going to mess this one up too.
