Wrestlezone Ranks Every Single Hell in a Cell Match in WWE History – Part 3

The Undertaker vs. Triple H
WrestleMania XXVIII

If Armageddon had the chaos, Lesnar and ‘Taker had the brutality, and Mick Foley had the willpower, this match had the drama.

Screw Hell in a Cell – there has never been a better story told in 30 minutes, inside a professional wrestling ring, ever. Those are bold words, but I’ve spent all week trying to find one, and I just can’t.

triple hThere were really three stories happening here. Triple H wanted to be better than Shawn. Undertaker wanted to prove that his win wasn’t a fluke, and that he could walk out of WrestleMania on his own two legs. And Shawn Michaels just wanted to make sure his best friend wasn’t murdered by the man who ended his career.

Those different angles almost produce three different matches, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen this one exactly the same way after another viewing. You can watch Shawn Michaels for half an hour, as he brilliant balances his friendship with the respect he has for the Deadman. You can watch Triple H go from pro wrestler to evil incarnate, doing whatever he has to to end the Streak. And you can watch Undertaker come back from one of the biggest beatings of his career, and the incredible stamina that beat out The Game by mere inches.

I know what happens in this match, and it still gives me chills at every nearfall, each time I watch it. That’s how you know the story is perfect; the ending is new and catches you off guard every time, even when you know what’s over the hill. I just cannot praise this Hell in a Cell match enough…
