Title This: Impact Wrestling Reaction “Tag Tournament Can Build New Stars”

The Hardy’s defeated DJ Z and Jesse

impact wrestling reactionMatt rams DJ Z’s head into the mat and Jeff hits his infamous body splash on both men. Matt get a quick cover and Z kicks out. The brothers hit a beautiful double team move and Jeff takes over. The BroMans get some offense and DJ Z works on Matt’s arm. Jeff hits a front suplex and Z and then Whisper in the Wind. Jeff is able to hit Swanton Bomb and Matt covers Jesse for the win.

The tag team tournament starts off fast and with a very solid match. It seemed to be just repeat to what brought these guys to tag team glory. The match was really smooth and controlled mostly by the brothers.

I wish they fought longer and with more dramatic pinfall attempts from the heels, but it was still a very solid and logical match to kick off Impact.

Bram and Devon Brawl

This is not actually a match, but both men are battling back and forth. Devon gets a few chops in and then chokes Bram. He throws Bram to the mat and really chokes him. Finally security comes out and separates the two men.

Later in the night is a Hardcore Match between the two men. Devon puts some chairs into the ring and hits Bram in the throat a few times. He throws him into the post and then hits him in the head with a trash can and a chair. Both men exchange trash can blows to the head. Magnus hits Devon with a Kendo Stick and Bram is able to pick up the win.

A cheap win with a very cheap and generic feud. I did not like this segment much because there is no depth to these guys right now. Devon is a great talent, but never was taken seriously as a singles competitor. Bram needs to focus on someone more decorated as just a singles star. Who can that be? Could they give him someone like Joe? How about someone like MVP or even Anderson?

Samoa Joe and Low Ki defeated Samuel Shaw and Gunner

Joe hits some rapid fire punches, followed by a running elbow and a kick. Gunner gets into the ring and hits a nice suplex to Low Ki. Brittany comes out and talks to Shaw on the outside. Gunner is still in the ring and Ki gets hit with a big legdrop and a two count. Shaw and Gunner tag each other in and out and work on Ki. Samoa Joe hits a snap slam and a two count and then pace picks up. Joe hits Gunner in the face with a big kick.

The conclusion comes when Joe gets hit in the face with a knee from Gunner. Brittany grabs Gunner’s leg and Low Ki hits a spinning heel kick. Joe makes Gunner tap out. Gunner gets into the face of Shaw and Brittany. Shaw hits Gunner in the back with a steel chair and walks off with his lady.

I have been hot and cold with Shaw over the past few months. I enjoyed his creepy and stalker gimmick he had and hated when they tried to help him out. I disliked his feud with Anderson, but love what they did tonight. Shaw and Brittany are a really good pairing and something fresh. Think of any young guy in TNA that is paired with a fresh Knockout. This is really the only one that comes to mind for me. Shaw needs to be a guy that is on his own, in terms of having “guy friends.”  As for Joe and Ki, they did their part and worked pretty well with a much improved Shaw inside the ring and a veteran like Gunner.
