Dolph Ziggler vs. Randy Orton
Dolph Ziggler starts off with some elbows to Orton’s neck. He paces himself and then Orton is able to reverse the offense and kick away at Ziggler’s limbs. He hits a standing dropkick for a two count. Randy Orton throws him to the middle turnbuckle and then begins to stomp away again. Ziggler rings him up on the top rope. The men head to the outside and Ziggler is still in control. Orton tosses Ziggler shoulder first into the post.
Dolph counters a DDT and another dropkick send The Viper to the outside. Seth Rollins walks down the ramp and Orton yells at him to go to the back. Orton delivers a back breaker onto the announce table and both men continue the physical fight. Randy places Dolph on the top rope and connects with a beautiful superplex. Ziggler gets a few more moves in, including another superkick and a neck breaker. Alas, Randy Orton finishes him off with an amazing RKO when tossing him in the air from the powerbomb position.
What a fantastic match between two of the smoothest executers in the WWE. We got a solid 15-20 minute match that I was invested in from the very beginning.
I was very happy to see Ziggler get plenty of offense, which helps solidify him being an Intercontinental Champion. Adding Seth Rollins to the outside also sets up a potential feud between him and Randy Orton. WWE seems to be building that very slowly. I can watch Orton and Ziggler fight every week.
It had great old school psychology added with new school athleticism and big spots.
Seth Rollins defeated Jack Swagger
The Real American uses his strength early on by tossing around Rollins. Swagger gets hung up on the top rope and then Seth works on his arm. Arm drag and more work on Swagger’s arm gives Rollins the upper hand. We see Randy Orton come back out and we head to another commerical break.
Rollins hits a spinning heel kick and then gets a two count. Snapmare takedown and then a kick to the back, as we see Seth and Orton jawing at one another. Swagger catches Rollins on the top rope and hits an excellent German Suplex. Jack hits a Swagger Bomb and another close call. Swagger catches Rollins again from the top and hits a side suplex. Swagger takes out the knee of Seth Rollins and locks in the Patriot Lock. Rollins connects with a super kick. Swagger gets the Patriot Lock in and Rollins gets to the ropes. Seth Rollins picks up the win by rolling up Swagger and Orton gets into the ring and hits an RKO.
This was another great match. It was different from the Orton-Ziggler match. I was surprised to see Seth Rollins take so much hurting on his body. He is built like an old school heel, one who barely wins matches and who escapes by the hair on his chin. That is what WWE wants to do with him. They already have their dominant heels in WWE. Rollins is different and this was a great match. Sweet irony with Orton hitting an RKO on Rollins’ opponent.
