Intercontinental Championship Changes Hands…Again
Dolph Ziggler and The Miz have a rematch, about 24 hours after their great match at Night of Champions. Well, this was a very similar match from last night and that is not a bad thing. Miz got the early advantage until Ziggler battled back with a DDT and some explosive clotheslines. The finish comes when Ziggler tries his finisher, but Miz hits the Skull Crushing Finale. Ziggler kicks out and is able to grab the tights for the win and reclaims his championship.
I can say that I am pleasantly surprised, yet confused. I am not sure what the point of him dropping the title in the first place is. I have really enjoyed this feud because their matches have been really good and the story has actually seen some build over the past few weeks. Giving Ziggler the belt back means that WWE has a heel in mind to feud with him over having a face feud with Miz. There are weak faces aside from Ziggler, Ambrose and Cena in the WWE right now. This was the right call and really intrigues me to see who they pair against Dolph Ziggler once this feud finally finishes. Where does Miz go from here? I feel like we get one more match for the title and one that NEEDS a stipulation.
Jack Swagger defeated Bo Dallas
Swagger controls early with a big boot and a Swagger Bomb. Bo Dallas gets some offense with a nice neckbreaker and then tries to hit Bo-Dog. Swagger and Dallas are on the top rope and he throws him down while applying the Patriot Lock to make Dallas tap out.
This finish tells me that WWE have soured on the gimmick of Bo Dallas. If they really thought he was worth plenty of build and intrigue, he would not lose to Jack Swagger. It shows you that Jack Swagger has some creativity left in him. I really would not be surprised to see Swagger in a high profile type of feud since Reigns is injured. There is an open spot and he deserves it. The crowd still loves him and he has a great mouthpiece in Zeb Colter to push him over the mid card level. As for Dallas, I am skeptical of his growth. He looks sloppy and just like another generic wrestler from WWF No Mercy on Nintendo 64.
Natalya defeated Summer Rae
WWE connects the dots between Total Divas and WWE Raw with this match. The story was well developed and I did think this was better than most angles from that show. Nonetheless, the match lasted about three minutes and saw Summer Rae hit about two moves. Natalya took over and made her tap to the Sharpshooter. There is not much more to talk about besides how they developed this angle in a week. Summer Rae is sexy and she needs to be used like a Michelle McCool with Layla. They could finally give both of these Divas some meaning behind seeing them on a weekly basis.
