Shawn Michaels, Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair discuss John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar. It appears that Hulk Hogan is the only guy that thinks John Cena can win. Michaels says it is impossible. Out comes John Cena, who says he got his ass whipped and was completely beaten down. He says he went into the trainer’s room and said he wanted to fight Brock Lesnar again. Cena says he is not going to Night of Champions to beat Brock Lesnar, but to beat his ass.
Good segment. One that really tried to make us believe that John Cena has no chance. His final words are all that we needed to hear. John Cena will not win the title, but he will be a more aggressive and intense man in the ring. He wants to beat down Brock Lesnar.
I can easily see a disqualification. Cena does not need the title. He needs some sort of redemption after the brutal beating he took at SummerSlam. I just hope WWE books it realistically and not have Cena dominate most of the match.
Rusev defeated Jack Swagger
The crowd still loves Swagger, even though Zeb Colter is nowhere to be found for a second consecutive week. Swagger takes down Rusev and locks in the Patriot Lock. Rusev is able to get to the bottom rope. Swagger hits a big splash into the corner and rams Rusev into the post. Rusev is rung up on the top rope and drives Swagger to the outside as we head to a commercial break.
When we get back, Rusev gets countered with a belly to belly suplex. He hits a big boot and then sets him up for a Swagger Bomb. He locks in the Patriot Lock and he is close to tapping out. Rusev finally gets to the rope to break the hold. Rusev drives Swagger into the apron to focus on his injured ribs. Swagger reverses the Accolade and tries to pick up a pin fall. Rusev hits multiple kicks to his back and punishes him into the corner once again. He kicks Swagger for a good 2-3 minutes. The match completely stalls and Rusev ends up getting the win because Swagger cannot continue.
The match started off hot and ended up very average. Rusev’s multiple kicks, even though I understood the story, completely took any entertainment out of the crowd. It was just very bland and his kicks did not seem to have much power behind them. He was not completely following through and the match had to be stopped. Thank God, because it was really dragging on. I wish we would have seen Mark Henry come out and continue their feud by testing their strengths. Either way, I still see Henry vs. Rusev at Night of Champions.
