Roman Reigns defeated Randy Orton
This match can be broken into two parts. The first 10 minutes of the match was very mechanical. Randy Orton focused on slowing down the pace of the match and working on the limbs of Reigns. The second part of the match was excellent. Reigns was finally able to get his offense going, hitting his signature kick and a wonderful Samoan Drop from the top rope. Orton caught Reigns with an RKO as he was trying to connect with a Superman Punch. Roman Reigns kicked out and Randy Orton would end up falling to a Spear.
This will not be a make or break match for Roman Reigns, but it was really smooth. Orton is a well-oiled machine in the ring and Roman Reigns added a few pieces to his offense to stay fresh with the crowd. Next up is Triple H. They need to have a few matches and then make Reigns sink or swim at Hell in a Cell in October.
A New Legacy is Conquered
Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena was exactly what it needed to be. Brock Lesnar dominated the match. He started with a quick F5, which shocked the crowd. He hit over 15 German Suplexes to really crush the body of John Cena. The best part of the match is when Brock Lesnar rises up after a Cena attack ala Undertaker. Lesnar stalks his prey over and over. Cena hits a big flurry and tries to finish him with an Attitude Adjustment. German Suplexes onto the neck and head of Cena was absolutely amazing to see. Cena is able to lock in the STF, but Lesnar counters and hits John Cena with an F5 to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
You MUST watch this match to see what I mean by pure domination. Brock Lesnar was not a wrestler. He was an MMA fighter, a former UFC Champion. Brock Lesnar needed to crush the spirit of John Cena for this match to be meaningful in the long run. Brock Lesnar was incredible and John Cena did the job just like he should have. What is next? How do you book someone else to face Lesnar after this beating? There cannot be a rematch in September, can there? How can you book this rematch after a pure beat down.
Brock won me over by his facial expressions, his physicality and working on the little things to make him a complete and utter Superstar. Who is next? I would think the only other guy in WWE who has an MMA background… Anyone hear from Drax recently?
