Lashley, Kenny King and MVP defeated Bobby Roode, Eric Young and Austin Aries
Roode and King start off the match and he tries to lock in the crossface. Roode whips King into the arm of Aries, who slingshots himself into the ring. Roode gets back into the ring and they work away at King. Lashley and Young square off and then another quick tag to MVP. King finally gets back into the ring and quickly tags in Lashley. The fast tags are really the story of this match.
Aries begins to steal the show when he heads up top after a Suicide Dive. MVP hits Aries in the head with a crutch and Lashley hits a Spear, which Aries sells to PERFECTION.
Once again, the match had some really good spots. I like how Lashley continues to look dominant. A heel champion, the size of Lashley, should never be the underdog. They did the complete opposite to Magnus and look at that flop of a championship reign. I wonder how long it takes TNA for MVP to turn face again and aim for a championship victory over his former “friend.”
Team 3D defeated The Hardy’s
Matt and Jeff work onto Devon and tries for Whisper in the Wind. Bully Ray grabs Jeff’s hair and throws him down. Dudley’s split the legs of Jeff and Devon unloads massive punches onto Jeff. Bully Ray drops multiple elbows onto Jeff’s chest. Jeff is completely isolated for about 10 minutes. Bully lost his focus and Jeff gets up top with him. Jeff hits a Hurricanranna from the top and gets a two count. Finally, Matt comes in and takes down Devon with a Bulldog. He hits Bully with a baseball slide and then a side effect. Matt hits a moonsault for a two count. The Hardy’s hit an incredible corkscrew splash when Devon was on the shoulders of Devon.
The finish comes when Matt hits a Twist of Fate in the ring and Jeff follows with a Swanton for two. They only get a two count and but Bully breaks it up before they hit a Death Drop for the win.
Excellent match. Two of the best tag teams in history remind us how beautiful a tag team match can be. Have these guys gotten better with age? I know Matt has. I know Bully Ray has. The other two guys are always fun to watch. I wish they had titles on the line. That would really take me back, but they really do not need anything else aside from their names attached to this match.
