Alberto Del Rio defeated Dolph Ziggler
Dolph Ziggler starts with a big dropkick and then punches away at Alberto Del Rio. Del Rio slows down the pace with a submission hold to his neck. Ziggler fights back and The Miz interrupts. He begins to thank everyone and Ziggler hits a Fameasser as he is speaking. Miz thanks Ziggler and Dolph heads to the outside to attack him. Cross Armbreaker for Del Rio gives him the win.
I like what they are doing with The Miz and Dolph Ziggler right now. It is a really good feud that continues to evolve. I did not particularly like Ziggler losing tonight, but I do think it makes sense. I wish Del Rio would have won with a roll-up or something quicker than how it unfolded. WWE needs to give these guys 15-20 minutes at SummerSlam to really give us a great match. They have two more weeks to make it more personal and more intriguing. At this pace, they will succeed. Would it be crazy to possibly give them a stipulation? What about a ladder match? Both have won them in the past and both have their names attached to it in some extents.
Chris Jericho defeated Erick Rowan
Rowan begins his assault of Chris Jericho, hitting punches and head butts early on. Rowan hits a big powerslam onto Jericho and then kicks him on the mat. Jericho fights back with chops to his chest. Rowan hits a big club onto his head and whips him into the corner. Finally, Jericho counters and is in control. He kicks Rowan in the stomach and then heads up top. Jericho hits a missle dropkick. Rowan hits a spin kick for a two count. Jericho hits a Lionsault for another close call. Rowan tries to hit a fallaway slam from the top rope but it is countered. Jericho is up top again and Rowan hits a big boot to his face. A bear hug is locked in until Jericho counters with a Codebreaker. Chris Jericho wins and Erick Rowan will not be at ringside with Wyatt at SummerSlam.
The slow and hard hitting match was nothing amazing, but it was solid. Rowan was given plenty of time to work and Jericho carried the entire match. It was all about Jericho making Rowan look stronger than ever. Erick Rowan will never win awards for being the best in the ring, but he held his own and Chris Jericho ends Smackdown with a big win.
