Chris Jericho and Bray Wyatt Continue Their Feud
Bray Wyatt was supposed to be a guest on The Highlight Reel. He attacks him on the WWE App before the segment. He says losing a battle means nothing when you are in a war. He talks about destroying monsters and giants, bringing heroes to their knees. Wyatt says Abigail used to talk to him about digging graves. He tells Jericho that he is forever.
Nobody can say Bray is bad on the microphone. He is just so smooth and intense in every word he says. I had chills listening to what he had to say and it is only going to help Jericho. Attacking Jericho backstage will hopefully unleash more of an extreme Jericho, one who has no limitations and no restrictions. He needs to tap into who he was when facing Shawn Michaels a handful of years ago.
Dolph Ziggler defeated The Miz
This was the first extended look we have gotten from The Miz since his return. Dolph Ziggler is the perfect man to face The Miz. Ziggler ducks a clothesline and Miz catches him. He catapults Ziggler over the rope, but he hangs on. Both men are on the apron and he covers his face up from being beaten up. Ziggler’s face bounces off the steel post. We get back from break with Ziggler getting some momentum. He hits a few clotheslines and then a big splash into the corner. He follows up with a neckbreaker. Miz hits a DDT and Ziggler kicks out at two. Miz tries to locks Figure Four, but Ziggler hits a stalling DDT for another two count. The Miz softens up the leg and tries Figure Four. Ziggler rolls him up for a two count. He finally locks in the Figure Four. The end comes when Dolph is able to hit ZigZag and pins Miz.
I love how The Miz continues to remain in character throughout the entire match. This was the right call. Miz has the title by eliminating Ziggler last night, but Ziggler wants to get a championship match. If Ziggler lost, what would be the point in him trying to challenge The Miz? I wonder how, maybe if, Sheamus fits in here. Can they do some sort of Triple Threat Match? They have to unify the championships sooner rather than later. Excellent match with plenty of spots and a really smooth finish. An open-ended finish is perfect for these guys.
Paige Turns on AJ Lee
A solid tag team match was overshadowed by what happened at the end of the match. AJ Lee wins the match for her team, defeating Natalya and Emma. They celebrate in the ring until Paige grabs her hair and throws her to the mat. She headbutts AJ Lee over and over again. She throws her to the outside and into the barricade. She throws AJ into the steel post. She yells at AJ and says that this is her house. AJ is thrown over the announce table.
I loved it. I really loved what Paige did tonight. This is how WWE should have booked her from the very beginning. She needs to be a heel. She looks like a badass Diva, not a crowd pleaser. AJ Lee has her group of fans and so does Paige. Another rematch is in the future and is the best call for this division. I can see them really investing time and more creative angles to make their rematch at SummerSlam feel important. Simple, logical and really entertaining booking.
