Battleground 2014 was kind of like doing shots of Grey Goose in quick succession. It’s an awesome experience at first, as the smooth liquid fills you with warmth and immediately takes your cares away. But after an hour goes by, the “high” starts to fade and you realize why downing 8oz of French vodka in under a minute is a BAD DECISION.
The Usos and the Wyatt Family put on what may end up being the best tag team match of 2014 – certainly from WWE, as I don’t expect anyone to step up and beat that one in the next five months. People complained about “another Uso/Wyatt match”, but the great thing about two teams that work together frequently is THEY ALWAYS DELIVER. A lot of shock from the interwebs that Harper and Rowan didn’t walk away with the gold, but as a few have pointed out, 1) that means the feud continues, and 2) there are no other relevant babyface teams.
I heard some disappointment that Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose didn’t actually have a match. They still got three entire segments on a PPV, building towards a much bigger match at SummerSlam. I don’t think it was ever planned for those two to lock up, and the more they draw it out, the more anticipation there will be in August. I would like to see some variation though; tonight’s attacks were good – albeit predictable – but we’ve seen so many run-ins and backstage assaults that, while I’m open to more, they need to be CREATIVE.
