Prediction: The Show-Stealer
I actually have a ton of confidence in this card to provide a really solid PPV on Sunday. But I think we all know that Bray Wyatt and Chris Jericho are going to steal the show at Battleground. I’ll be the first to admit – as a lifelong Y2J fanatic – that Jericho isn’t in his prime, as he doesn’t wrestle 300 dates a year, and has lost just a bit of the technical edge that made him one of the all-time greats in the ring. But he’s still head and shoulders better than most, and in the last year (this is the anniversary of Wyatt’s PPV debut) Bray has gotten great exposure and practice in big money matches with Kane, then Daniel Bryan, and John Cena.
It’s a no-brainer. These two steal the show, and make the PPV worth our time. Don’t sleep on the tag team match though; those two teams know how to put on a great match.
Drinking Game: drink every time one of the commentators says “what a match!” AND if Bray Wyatt does his spider crawl.
Prediction: The Divas Will Shine Shimmer
I have been SO impressed by how WWE has handled the Divas division in the past few months. There are currently THREE ongoing programs involving the Divas – the championship picture, the Funkadactyls break-up, and whatever was happening with Fandango. I expect Paige and AJ Lee to put on a good match if they’re given the time. I expect Cameron and Naomi to be better than you’d expect on the pre-show. And I expect that at some point in the Battle Royal, Summer Rae and Layla will lead to Fandango and/or Dolph Ziggler being eliminated.
Also, props to anyone who caught the joke.
