Title This: NXT Takeover Reaction “A Strong Breeze Took Over The Night”

The Undercard

nxt takeover reactionAdam Rose defeated Camacho

Adam Rose kicked off NXT with a little party and a basic 5 minute match. Camacho controlled much of the offense until Rose was able to counter. He hit his finisher onto Camacho and picked up the win.

The gimmick in a smaller arena works better for Rose, which is not a good thing. They need to find out how to adapt his character in front of 10,000 fans on a weekly basis. What is that ONE missing piece? Also, I really hope they do not give Rose a feud quickly, have that guy dressed as the bunny and attack him. That tactic will be used, but should be held off for a while.

The Ascension defeated El Local and Kalisto

The Ascension dominate once again in a tag team match tonight, this time with a masked Ricardo Rodriguez. Both teams showcased their offense. Viktor and Konnor hit hard forearm strikes to kick it off, followed by big clotheslines. They are heels that know how to be heels. The gimmick is fresh and their look is unique. El Local hits a crossbody while Kalisto hits a headscissors. Ascension is able to gain the upper hand by when Viktor ducks a dive from Local and they hit the Fall of Man for the win.

The Ascension continues to dominate and will not get called up until they find a few tag teams that can fill the avoid. A new tag team is wanted in WWE, but not necessarily NEEDED right now. Time will tell when they debut. When they do, this could be a huge shot in the arm for a division that has a few good teams with simplistic gimmicks.

Rusev Crush

Rusev and Lana come out to great heel heat, discussing Russia and Vladimir Putin. Out comes Mojo Rawley, who is obviously hyped up for USA. He runs down the ramp and immediately gets crushed by Rusev. A big man like Rawley getting dominated by Rusev made Rusev look impressive. Big body shots and a corner splash set up the submission move. They did not need to book him any other way than this.
