The Ultimate Warrior vs. The Undertaker
Madison Square Garden 7/1/1991
The only non-PPV match for Warrior including on this list, as he takes on The Undertaker in their one and only encounter, live from Madison Square Garden, where the only way to win was to put your opponent in a body bag. I included this match because it signified the rise of one of the greatest careers in wrestling, and the tail end of another. Warrior would defeat the Undertaker in one of his last great matches, prior to leaving the WWE the following year and ending his first run with the company. Warrior and 'Taker threw everything they had at each other, with four total piledrivers dished out before all was said and done.
The Ultimate Handicap Match
SummerSlam '91
This 2-on-3 handicap match was the final blow-off to the year-long build between Warrior, Hogan and the villainous trio of Sgt. Slaughter, General Adnan and Colonel Mustafa that saw the WWE Championship trade hands twice, and spanned three of the four big PPV events in 1991. While not a fantastic wrestling match, the crowd was hot and the build was golden. It's almost poetic that Warrior's first and last major victory in the WWE came at SummerSlam inside Madison Square Garden – from 1988 to 1991, in just three short years he went from squashing the Honkey Tonk Man, to main events with Hulk Hogan. Even if, in this case, Hogan was the one man standing tall in the end, with the WWE Championship Warrior never got a fair rematch for, and they both played second fiddle to a wedding for a guy he made retire earlier that year. You win some, you lose some.
