The Ultimate Warrior vs. "Macho Man" Randy Savage
WrestleMania VII
Hands down, this is the best match The Ultimate Warrior ever wrestled. You can argue his match with Hulk Hogan as the most important match in his career, but there is no legitimate debate that Warrior/Savage is the best. Two of the biggest stars of their time, dressed to the nines in loud, flamboyant coats, streamers, hats, and various other ring gear. The feud had nuclear levels of heat, as Savage was directly responsible for Sgt. Slaughter becoming the WWE Champion at the Royal Rumble, and this match was booked as Warrior's revenge, with the largest audience in the history of PPV (at the time) tuned in to watch it. To put the icing on the cake, the loser was forced to retire – that said, we all know how "retiring" works in pro wrestling.
After more than 20 minutes, Warrior leveled Savage with a flying shoulder tackle, pulled him back into the ring and pinned the "Macho Man" with one foot. And although the crowd was largely in favor of the Warrior's victory, it was impossible not to feel the great loss of Randy Savage and one of the greatest careers in pro wrestling history. What followed has nothing to do with Warrior, but is one of the most memorable moments in WrestleMania history. With that loss, Sensational Sherri assaulted the fallen Savage, until a distraught Elizabeth couldn't take it any more, coming to her man's rescue and reuniting the greatest power couple of all time.
