"But This One Spins!"
To further put the nail in JBL's coffin, John Cena did the unthinkable – he blinged out the WWE Championship. The most prestigious prize in pro wrestling, and Cena made it spin in circles.
I seem to be one of the few people who really like the spinner belt. Not when anybody else holds it – and I'm glad CM Punk's version stopped spinning, eventually – but it was representative of a new era: the John Cena era. Maybe it's because I'm a big John Cena fan, or maybe it's because I so viciously hated John Layfield circa 2004-05, but still to this day I enjoy the look of the WWE Championship spinner title.
This moment is incredibly significant, because it literally changed the face of the WWE title for eight years. Everyone who became WWE Champion, with the exception of Edge who created his own version of the title, held that spinner belt. It became the number one prize in sports entertainment.
