I write a pro wrestling column every Monday and Friday for the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. It can be found online at TribLIVE.com.
Today, I wrote about a match once discussed now no longer on the table and a new match involving The Shield that seems to have more of a chance of happening at WrestleMania 30. The following is an excerpt:
WrestleMania 30 has enough aspects focusing on those who got us to 30 — now it's time to focus on who is going to get us to 60.
Legends such as Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior and Jake “The Snake” Roberts will have appearances. The veterans such as John Cena, Triple H, The Undertaker, Brock Lesnar, Batista and Randy Orton will be involved in marquee matches.
Enough with the “stars of tomorrow” labeling. Tomorrow is here. It seems WWE has realized this.
I heard and reported days ago on a match that was being considered with eight competitors in a four on four tag match. A few main roster names like Cesaro and Jack Swagger, being paired with some top names in NXT.
From what I'm hearing, that idea for an eight-man match isn't going to materialize due to several factors. The announcement of the inaugural Andre The Giant battle royal is going to occupy 30 men. One of those men will be Cesaro, a possible pick to win the whole thing.
It seems likely the main event for the world title will end up being a triple threat with Daniel Bryan needing to beat Triple H to earn his spot in the match with Orton and Batista. This is significant to The Shield trio that were once on pace to culminate their teased internal issues in a triple threat match.
WWE won't have two triple threat matches on the WrestleMania 30 card.
This leaves some NXT guys whom WWE wants to get introduced to the main roster. This also leaves The Shield which is at the height of its popularity. Finally, this leaves a veteran Superstar who is a logical choice to liaison them all in the biggest moment thus far in their careers.
A new match that is carrying weight and consideration has arrived on the WrestleMania 30 planning table.
