Stars in Progress: Special Edition on the WWE Network & the Network-Launch Episode of Raw

This week, WrestleZone and the wrestling world, in general, has been all about one thing: the launch of the WWE Network. I’ve been asked to dedicate my ‘Stars in Progress’ space to anything related to the Network, or Raw from Monday, which included a Henry-ton of Network hype and references.

Before I get started though, I want to say “thanks” to those of you who showed up for the return of The Voice of Wrestling on Monday. Nick Paglino, Kevin Kelly and I had a blast and it certainly feels good to be back. For those wondering about the archive of the show, it will be posted late tonight or first thing tomorrow on www.voiceofwrestling.com

If I gave you a computer for free because I knew there were likely to be some issues with it, yet you insisted on paying me full price, it’s on you when it blows up in your face.

A journalist I really respect posted on Twitter yesterday that he went ahead and paid for the WWE Network in advance. He’s had many of the same technical problems everyone appears to be having during the first few days of its existence.

“I understand it’s not even 48 hours old, and that will be solved, but money is being paid here,” he said, after explaining that the videos apparently stop randomly with zero rhyme or reason.

Hard to argue with his frustration. Everyone is frustrated, but probably no more than Vince McMahon is with so much riding on this gamble. I knew there would be some glitches, and there were even more than I anticipated, but it’s hard to moan about something that is free.Or, at least the OPTION to not pay was available.

Once the kinks are worked out, the WWE Network is going to be everything we hoped it would be. Likely more. It’s a wrestling fan’s wet dream and we’ll be very grateful for it soon.

But go ahead and knock yourself out should you continue to gripe over something that costs LITERALLY nothing. You’re going to miss this week of frustrating bliss a year from now when things are running as they should and Vince raises the price by double or more.
