Stars in Progress: “This Is Awesome”, Austin Talks Daniel Bryan, Sheamus, Orton Needs A Win This Sunday

Antonio CesaroCena/Cesaro – One Step Up

And it truly was awesome.

John Cena vs. Cesaro on RAW was about as good as it gets in pro wrestling. This all coming one week after I gave Cesaro a step down for not being "over".

While my ego wants to believe he went out there to prove me wrong this week, I'm aware he did it to prove MANY people wrong. I'm not the only one who feels he lacks a Grade A level of charisma, so Monday was a chance for him to shut us all up.

And even with a loss, he cetainly made me a believer…at least for one week.

I don't want to slight Cena either. Naysayers and critics can kiss his a$$ too after Monday. Funny thing is: Cena puts on good-to-great matches all the time. I wasn't remotely surprised by the effort he gave.

My buddies, Frank and Joe from Wrestle Reaction, spoke about this on their Raw post-show Monday night. They pointed out that the loss to Cena didn't hurt Cesaro. No one felt he would actually win that match, so there's no harm done when he simply follows through on those expectations.

However, it's the very fact that the outcome was so predictible, yet the fans still got THAT invested, that made it such an incredible match. You know you did it right when a WWE crowd starts chanting "This is awesome!" I can probably count on one hand how often that happens in a calendar year these days.

So, kudos to Cesaro. Kudos to Cena. I am happy to eat crow for a week when it comes to Cesaro. His performance Monday was simply too incredible to deny.
