Title This: WWE Smackdown Reaction January 17th, 2014

The Main Events

-Paul Heyman and Big Show talk, with Heyman announcing Brock Lesnar will be at Raw for Big Show this coming Monday. Nothing too much to note here, but I will say WWE is doing all that they can right now to make this match interesting. With a limited schedule for Lesnar and a lack of evolving Big Show's character, they are stuck with Paul Heyman selling the match. Credit to him. If anyone can sell a match, Paul Heyman can.

Score: 5/10

-Bray Wyatt cuts an amazing promo about himself and Daniel Bryan. You have to slow down the pace and keep the interest until February. Bryan vs. Bray is an excellent match at Elimination Chamber, especially if Daniel Bryan wins the Royal Rumble match. The segment was complex, intense and dramatic. If you think Bray Wyatt will fizzle out, obviously you do not know about telling a story and investing time and effort into developing new talent.

CM Punk vs. The Authority

I am a fan of this. I will be the first to admit my concerns when they decided to make the New Age Outlaws turn on Punk so quickly. I understand it now. Punk will fight through Kane, Gunn, Road Dogg and other of Triple H's "boys" to get to the game himself. I found it very interesting to hear Kane saying that "The Authority wants Punk to be in the main event at WrestleMania." He won't be chasing the championship. He will be headlining it with Triple H. It does not need to be the end of the night, but this is going to be really good. It has been a while since we have seen Triple H build a feud for himself in the ring as a heel. We have seen pieces, but he will finally have about 2-3 months to develop something great with Punk. Nothing major happened here and Smackdown ended very non-dramatic, but Smackdown isn't made for this.
