#1 – Randy Savage
Well…you knew this was coming.
"Macho Man" Randy Savage is one of the best to ever step into a wrestling ring. His character crept into mainstream culture, and in the industry's boom period, only Hulk Hogan was more popular. A former King of the Ring winner, 6-time world champion between WWF and WCW, a former Intercontinental Champion – his wedding main evented a PPV and his relationship with Miss Elizabeth was a public affair. Without Randy Savage, there is no WWE Hall of Fame. Bruno Sammartino and Bob Backlund were two out of the three names WWE needs to induct, and they were taken care of in 2013.
Savage has been kept out of the Hall of Fame for way too long, mostly due to issues with Vince McMahon. There was some drama with the Poffo family, who insists that Randy wanted his entire family to go in at the same time. That said, Triple H is now fully in control of bringing in Hall of Famers as of 2013 – a decision that finally sealed Bruno – and Lanny Poffo has given "his permission" for the WWE to go ahead with the induction. He did so using extreme passive aggression, and noted that WWE would be "doing so against Randy's permission", but I honestly don't think that's as big of an issue. No disrespect meant to any of the Poffos, but Randy was the true star. He's the Hall of Famer. If you want to make a case for any of his family members, that's fine, but the "Macho Man" deserves his own star in the WWE Hall, as he's the one fans truly care about. This could very well be the year…
