1/12 Wrestlezone Recap: WWE Network is Official, Ryback Goes on Internet Rampage, Backstage Heat on Batista, Mae Young & More

This week on the Wrestlezone Recap I talk about why the heat on Batista is moronic, the WWE Network, I wonder if anybody really cares about Ryback's latest Twitter rampage, mourn the injury of Dolph Ziggler, and more.

It may not be "news" necessarily, but please check out Mike Bennett and Maria Kanellis' new podcast "Mike & Maria in Wonderland". I'm a big fan of wrestling-related podcasts, and this is immediately one of the more fun ones out there. They have a unique perspective on the business, with Maria being successful in WWE, as a model, and the two working as a hot couple on the indie scene. Their opinions on the wrestling industry today are really interesting, and I highly recommend checking them out.

Ryback Quits; Nobody Cares

As we reported earlier, WWE Superstar Ryback went on somewhat of a Twitter rampage today, commenting on internet rumors, pro wrestling internet reporters, Dolph Ziggler's injury and more. [Cont…]

So WWE Superstar Ryback went on a bit of a Twitter rampage this weekend, mocking everything from his own fans, to pro wrestling dirt sheets, to his fellow wrestlers. And this is after injuring Dolph Ziggler, and taking a shot at Lillian Garcia while on commentary.

rybackSo here's my question: does Ryback want to have any friends? I can't tell where his gimmick ends, and his person begins. On one hand, it's nice to see a guy really dedicated to his character. On the other, Ryback comes off as a giant tool who hates his own fans, and sees everyone as "below him". Again, that could just be the bully in his character coming out to play, but when he goes off-script to make fun of Lillian, I kind of doubt it.

I've said this a couple times since Monday's Raw, but I honestly think Ryback made the joke to try and get back in Triple H's good graces. It screams of desperation, and ass-kissing. Not that there isn't a fair amount of hypocrisy going on there – after all, it's totally fine for Triple H and Michael Cole to take shots at their co-workers, but when an up-and-coming guy on the roster tries to join in on the fun, WWE throws the "Be a Star" program at them.

Like I said, it kind of looks like Ryback doesn't want to have any friends. He's injuring guys in the locker room, pissing off members of management, and taking shots at his own fans on social media. You think the the wrestling websites he's burying are going to say nice things about his matches and segments after this? Were they before? Enjoy the last leg of relevancy. Feed me moron.
