Power Struggle
Kane, Brad Maddox and Vickie Guerrero all battle for the power of the show with The Authority not there. Vickie gets a match made with Randy Orton with the Rhodes Brothers. Another match is made with John Cena vs. The Real Americans, as well as CM Punk and Daniel Bryan vs. The Shield.
Goldust and Cody Rhodes defeated Randy Orton. Orton walks out of his match to take the loss. This sends out The Big Show and he attacks the champion. Show sends Orton through a table with a massive chokeslam. The match was pretty good, what we got at least. Orton needed to look vulnerable. They accomplished this at the right time. With Steph and Trips out, there has to be some sort of chaos. The night started that way and it was a perfect beginning. I liked how we did not have to end Raw with Show and Orton. As much as WWE tries to tell us what we should want the most, we all know Punk and Bryan are the two guys that intrigue us on a weekly basis.
Grade: B
CM Punk and Daniel Bryan vs. The Shield ended in a No Contest.
The end to Raw was a very telling ending. The action itself was great. What else would you expect from 5 extremely gifted talents? As we neared the end of the match, Punk looked to be victorious until the lights went out. Appearing in the ring was Harper and Rowan. Bryan and Punk escaped the ring and The Shield and The Wyatt Family began to get into each others face. We have all been waiting for a tease like this and it was executed very well. We needed to have a tease of them fighting without the physicality. They end up regrouping and attacking Punk and Bryan. The Uso's and Rhodes Brothers come out and make the save. The faces stand tall to end the night.
Why did this ending work? It was fresh and effective. Well done.
