WrestleZone’s Top 10: Night of Champions Matches

Number 3: Triple H vs. John Cena vs. Randy Orton at Night of Champions 2009

John Cena

With three of the biggest names in the WWE, Randy Orton would try and retain the title against Triple H and John Cena. Orton wanted both men to try and beat down the other, so he would run to the outside until he was chased back in. All three men brawled back and forth with one another early in the match. As both men went to the outside, they would toss one another into the commentator’s table. John Cena made things very interesting when he tossed Randy Orton into the front row. It looked like he crashed into a chair, which made the crowd go crazy.Triple H and John Cena tapped into some moves from their match at WrestleMania 22. After both men put on a clinic, Randy Orton was in full control. As the heel, Orton stomped away at the lifeless bodies that were dead on the mat. It was what made Randy Orton so damn good at this time. He calculated every single move. The match told so much of heart, desire, and determination. At the end of the match, Triple H would lock in a Sharpshooter while John Cena locked in a Crossface. Randy Orton had nowhere to run and had to tap out. The referee did not know who to declare the winner. When the match continued, Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase came out and attacked Cena and Triple H. As Cena ganied the upper hand and attempted to hit an AA on Rhodes, Orton hit a breathtaking RKO while Rhodes was on his shoulders. Orton would pick up the victory and keep his coveted championship. At the end of this incredible Triple Threat Match, all three men looked fantastic and were able to continue their pursuit of the WWE Championship. Shocking, this was NOT the last match of the night. This match was planned out and executed perfectly.
