WrestleZone’s Top 10: Night of Champions Matches

Number 6: Triple H vs. John Cena at Night of Champions 2008

John Cena

Triple H and John Cena battled on the biggest stage at WrestleMania 22 in Chicago. It would take a few years before the rematch happened. Dallas, Texas was hot for Cena vs. Triple H. After the WWE Draft, Triple H moved from Raw to Smackdown and was the first competitor for John Cena. Cena, being the man that beat Triple H at Mania, wanted to fight again. It was revealed years later that WWE wanted this rematch to happen at WrestleMania 23 but Triple H was injured a few months before. The match was excellent because it was a struggle. You can tell the physicality was taking over both men. This was a main event match at WrestleMania in June. The hype was huge and the crowd was into it. After an STF and a Pedigree, neither man were able to get over to make a cover. The Game finally got to his feet, kicked a wounded Cena, and planted his second and final Pedigree of the match. After all of this, Triple H finally got his revenge on the face of the WWE. It was a match that should have and could have been on a MUCH larger stage.
