WrestleZone’s Top 10: Night of Champions Matches

Number 8: Kofi Kingston vs. Chris Jericho at Night of Champions 2008

Chris Jericho

It never ceases to amaze me to look back and see all of the young guys Chris Jericho has put over in his career. He is the most unselfish and hardest working guy in the WWE (when he is there). This was another example of a veteran getting over a talented rookie. Kofi Kingston was hot in 2008 because he was fresh and exciting to watch. With his first championship match against Jericho, Kingston had tons of pressure on him to perform at the highest of levels. He accomplished it when he was able to capture the title after an intense match that was the third longest of the night. Jericho and Kingston hit all of their respected moves, had numerous counters, and would conclude when Shawn Michaels distracted Jericho by hitting Sweet Chin Music on Lance Cade on the outside. At this time, Cade was in the corner of Jericho. Kingston would take advantage of the distraction and hit Trouble in Paradise. After this, Kingston would solidify himself in the mid card until this very day. It also built us Jericho vs. Michaels which was one of my favorite feuds on a personal level. They took each other to new heights and performed quite a story in the coming months.
