Title This: WWE Smackdown Reaction August 30, 2013

Curtis AxelThe Main Events

Curtis Axel and Paul Heyman come out at the top of the second hour to talk about their match with CM Punk. Axel says his mentor did some heroic on Raw, as they show the clip of them beating down Punk. Heyman says he is not sorry and does not want forgiveness. He calls himself, along with Punk, the reigning and defending WWE Champion and that he had as much to do with that than Punk did. He finishes up by saying that they will own Punk at Night of Champions.

Does it ever get better than Paul Heyman? With his infliction, his intonation, and his facial expressions, Heyman SELLS everything you want to feel in a personal feud. I continue to marvel at the execution of each promo. I realize that Punk will not appear much on Smackdown, but this wouldn't have been a bad time for him to try and chase down Heyman. Axel is used to wrestle in a feud that has NOTHING to do with him. I think that is better for him than some random feud for the IC Title. I would even say you can have Punk cost Axel the Intercontinental Championship. This would give Axel a reason to hate Punk just as much as Heyman does.

Daniel Bryan defeated Ryback via disqualification. Bryan gets the best possible match out of Ryback. The real story was what happened after the match. As Big Show was watching on, Orton came out and broke up Bryan's submission hold. Bryan was able to get Orton in the No! Lock until The Shield came out. The story was focused on if Big Show would help, which he would. He came into the ring and chased off The Shield. Triple H showcased his power and told Show to leave now or get reprimanded. After much frustration, Show left and Orton would work with The Shield to take out Bryan. Orton spraypainted No on Bryan as Smackdown came to an end.

I loved this ending. It enhances the fans' thoughts on who will be the savior to Bryan, continues the heat for all the heels, and Orton goes "Attitude Era" and spraypaints No! on Bryan's body. It is so logical and makes complete sense. This was a big positive, especially since it happened on Smackdown.
