WWE SummerSlam

Title This: WWE SummerSlam Wrap-up

The New Corporate Champion vs. The Rebel

Randy Orton

This is one of the best times of the year for the “internet fans.” John Cena loses the WWE Championship to Daniel Bryan in an excellent bout that ended SummerSlam. I really was impressed with how quick and effective Cena was in the ring with Bryan. If anyone can make Cena look great, it is Daniel Bryan. The aggression in his face, in his kicks, and in his submission holds are second to none. Yes, we did get a “Super Cena” where he came back strong. What we did not expect was how the match ended. Bryan hit a brutal kick to Cena and picked up the victory. After the match, WWE drew out the celebration until Randy Orton came out. He teased coming into the ring and cashing in his briefcase. Triple H turned heel and hit a Pedigree on Bryan. Orton came into the ring and pinned Bryan. Randy Orton and Triple H are now aligned with one another. This would pick up the next night, as Stephanie McMahon called Bryan a “B+” when the WWE Champion should be an “A.” Bryan attacked Stephanie with verbal words that were very similar of what Chris Jericho would do in the early 2000’s. Daniel Bryan would be escorted from the ring by security, which many people compared to Stone Cold. I did not because he did not put up a fight. Daniel Bryan can be compared to Austin in many ways, but he is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. Daniel Bryan has a chant that the crowd attaches to and is a guy that isn’t extremely large. The comparisons should stop there. The styles in the ring are different. They have a different look overall and have come to the top in different paths.

At the end of the night, Orton is in the ring with Triple H, Stephanie, and Vince. They basically say this is the face of the WWE. This is “their guy.” I find it funny a guy like Orton is the face of the company, one who has been suspended a few times and has a bad attitude with the company. I do LIKE it, but it simply is illogical. I think Bryan can poke the flaws in Orton’s maturity issues down the road. This is going to be a feud that should last at least until November.

Triple H is much better as a heel, but how long will his alliance with his father-in-law last? Will Stephanie put herself into a situation where she turns on them? Would we actually BUY it? When does the day Bryan reign supreme and take down the new “Corporation?” I do think The Shield as protection makes sense and is going to only give them even more credibility. They can still go off on their feuds but ultimately come back to the main storyline.
