The Smarkdown Hotel – Hot Forum Topic of the Week: What Is TNA and Should I Watch It?

Storylines?  Well, much like in-ring wrestling, this is something that is deeply subjective.  I find TNA’s storylines to be a bit convoluted, with far too much emphasis on aligning wrestlers into small factions.  These storylines also build quite slowly.  Unbelievably, the Aces & Eights narrative has gone on for more than a year already, with no particular goal or resolution in sight.  The Joseph Park gimmick has gone on for even longer, and one of the best wrestlers on the roster (AJ Styles) recently went nearly 6 months without having a match as part of his “Lone Wolf” angle.  Poor Ken Anderson went through so many heel/tweener/face turns over a one-year period that he became nearly irrelevant.

I’m criticizing, but this type of storytelling can be rewarding if you are willing to hold out through a very slow burn.  Maybe that’s even your preference.  Honestly, the best advice in this entire thread comes from user Zeven_Zion, who essentially advises to ignore other marks’ opinions, watch a couple of episodes, and decide for yourself whether or not you like it.  TNA Wrestling may not seem like your exact flavor, but it’s definitely worth a taste.
