Mt. Killamanjaro: WWE SummerSlam Review – “Vintage Orton”

FINAL THOUGHTS

SummerSlam left us with a lot of questions. Monday Night Raw should be very interesting tonight; that's what a good PPV should do. Everyone will want to hear from Triple H on why he did what he did. Everyone will want to see that Orton is really on the dark side. And more importantly, everyone will want to know what Daniel Bryan does to get his revenge.

CM Punk lost, which actually makes me more intrigued about the future of his place, at least leading into WrestleMania XXX. He's obviously not going to go after the title immediately, with that picture just getting even more crowded. I think a feud with Curtis Axel is probably in his future, unless something more pressing comes up. He's not done with Paul Heyman yet, that's for sure. It's got to be Axel, or it's got to be yet another Paul Heyman Guy.

I thought SummerSlam was great. There were two perfect matches, and a good world championship match to sweeten the deal. Everything else was decent; nothing was bad, although a few things could have been done better. The crowd buried the Divas, but they still worked well and I was entertained. I liked Miz as the SummerSlam host because he wasn't overused. He wasn't in any 20 minute promos, and he didn't steal the focus from the rest of the card. Miz: 1 – Rock: 0.

This show did exactly what WWE needed it to do, and for that I think it was a fantastic success. There was even victory in some of the weak moments, i.e. Bray Wyatt. Fans finally got the big Randy Orton heel turn, Triple H is back to his roots WHERE HE SHOULD BE, and John Cena/Kane got written off television for at least a while. Daniel Bryan and CM Punk are intriguing, and they asked a ton of questions I want to know the answers to.
