The Best vs. The Beast
CM Punk vs. Brock Lesnar
Isenberg: Buckle up for a great match and a great backstory. Paul Heyman will do all of the little things outside of the ring to really make this match interesting beyond the point of fighting. Punk needs to be quick and smart, while Lesnar needs to be the beast who attacks at any point. People gripe about the size difference, but that means NOTHING IN A FAKE SPORT. Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels was very similar, so shut your mouth and enjoy a fighter versus the best wrestler in the world. Punk and Lesnar will be excellent because both WANT to put on a memorable match. I can see Punk winning this match to build him back up to challenge Bryan. He does not NEED to win the match, but Lesnar could really benefit from a victory and stay off television for a few months. As I flip a coin, it landed on tails and that means Punk. Punk makes Brock tap out, in ironic fashion.
Killam: Triple H didn’t need to beat Brock Lesnar; he’s still in charge of the company. John Cena didn’t need to beat Brock Lesnar, especially with the whole “downward spiral” angle that never actually happened. CM Punk actually has something at stake here. He’s a main event player; probably the only guy near John Cena’s level right now. But if he loses this match, after career rivals like Cena and Triple H downed the beast, that says something. More importantly, Lesnar just doesn’t need to win; he’s not around frequently enough for it to matter. In eight months when he comes back for WrestleMania, nobody will have remembered or cared that he lost his last match. I don’t know if you can say the same thing for Punk, having already lost pretty major matches against The Rock, John Cena and the Undertaker so far in 2013. CM Punk wins, because logic.
