Alberto Del RioAlberto Del Rio – One Step Up

We have to look past the fact that he'll be facing Christian at one of the big four pay per views of the year, because that is just a downer of a main event, but Del Rio has looked good lately. And he looked GREAT last night.

Some of you might have the opinion of "same old, same old" with ADR, and I get that, but he's still the World Heavyweight Champion. And he's very talented, all things considered. He really hasn't had the most help creatively, so it's no surprise fans simple don't react to him like they should.

Last night, a mostly-crappy crowd did react for him. When he was beating the hell out of Ricardo, they reacted — as well as a crappy crowd can react.

I'm sure the thought process is simple: break Del Rio away from the one thing/person that makes him too likable to be a dominant heel. Maybe he can shine more without him.

At the end of the day, it's still "just" Smackdown and it's still "just" the WHC. But it can still be a stepping stone to becoming a bigger-level star when done right. The World Heavyweight title is the new IC title in that regard.

And personally, I think Del Rio has the potential to be an A-list guy. We just haven't seen it yet…ever.
