Number 1: Bret Hart vs. British Bulldog at SummerSlam 1992
The stage was set. Over 80,000 fans packed Wembley Stadium to cheer on their hometown hero, The British Bulldog. The Intercontinental Championship was on the line in a match that pitted brother-in-laws in a match that will go down in history as Bret Hart’s best match. It was a beautiful story of technical vs. muscle. Bulldog elevated himself into a new category, one where his single’s career was established. Although Bret Hart lost this match, he would head directly to the top of the WWE a few months later, capturing the WWE Championship. Every step of this match flowed with perfection, intensity, and a dramatic element that could not be overlooked. We would soon learn later that Bulldog forgot basically every move, something Bret mentioned in his autobiography, which makes this even more incredible. There may never be a bigger stage for a Summerslam than Wembley Stadium.
