Another backstage Main Event Mafia promo, with Kurt Angle yet again saying they're going to make the Aces & Eights "an offer they can't refuse." That phrase has been said more in the last three weeks than total matches these guys have wrestled.
Chris Sabin vs. Manic
Rating: ***1/2
The World Heavyweight Champion vs. the X-Division Champion. Chris Sabin wins via Hail Sabin.
After the match, Bully Ray hits the ring with a chain and tries to clean house. Sabin counters the attack and hits him with an enzuigiri, which forces the former champion to flee and talk more trash from the ramp.
KILLAM: They've been advertising this champion vs. champion match all week, and it didn't hit me until both of these guys were in the ring together. THESE are the two top champions in TNA right now? I'm sorry, but TNA has completely buried their belts. The way Sabin won, by essentially cheating after getting beaten down for twenty minutes, made him look weak. Turning the X-Division title into Money in the Bank, and swapping it from Suicide to Aries to Sabin and back to Manic in the last two months have made it irrelevant, rather than a must-have prize.
The match itself was fun. Good, wholesome X-Division action. I love that Sabin has changed up his in-ring arsenal a bit to better protect his body, but can still fly with the best of them. Maybe this is self-inflicted and nobody's fault but my own, but I just have no interest in either of these guys because of how TNA has booked them in the last few weeks.
Bully vs. Sabin in a steel cage in just two weeks, at "Hardcore Justice".
