Mt. Killamanjaro: TNA Impact Wrestling & Destination X Review – All Hail Sabin, the Zach Gowen of World Champions

Awkward moment backstage with Chavo Guerrero and Homicide, big Hernandez's former and current tag team champion. They fantacize about an alternate reality where they could be facing off for the world title next year at Destination X.

The Aces & Eights are having a club meeting whilst standing around backstage. They really have dropped all secrecy and let their guards down, eh? Ken Anderson says DOC got all pissy over not being named the new V.P. and quit the company. Sure he did, TNA.

Homicide vs. Petey Williams vs. Sonjay Dutt
Rating: ****

TNA announced that next week we'll have an Ultimate X match between all three of the X-Division winners throughout the night. One of them is about to be determined. Out of the three contests, this is the "ghosts of X-Division past" match. Sonjay drops Petey on his head with a wicked German suplex off the top rope; Homicide hits him with the Gringo Killer. Sonjay hits sliced bread and follows up with the double foot stomp for the win. Sonjay Dutt wins via the Moonstomp.

KILLAM: Fantastic short match that took full advantage of its one segment time slot. It actually helped that there wasn't a commercial break to ruin the pacing. Some wicked spots, including that aforementioned top rope, skin-the-cat German suplex. That plus the Gringo Killer; I legitimately hope Petey's neck is still attached. Sonjay wins and is still being hailed as the "greatest X-Division star never to win the title." Too bad these three guys aren't going to be given contracts any time soon…

Chavo Guerrero vs. Manic vs. Kenny King
Rating: ***1/2

This is the "X-Division present" match of tonight's trilogy, again, with the winner getting a spot in next week's Ultimate X ladder match. Tenay is talking up Chavo's experience as a former Cruiserweight champion in WCW and WWE. Manic used to be Suicide, until Austin Aries stole his identity, and…suddenly TJ Perkins wanted to kill himself less, I guess. Manic wins via chickenwing gutbuster

KILLAM: The official name for the move Manic won with is a "elevated double chickenwing knee drop gutbuster" but, that's just stupid. This match wasn't quite as good as the one before it, but this kind of action on a consistent basis is what put TNA on the map. Or more accurately, since they've never actually done much over a 1.0 and "on the map" is pretty generous, it's why people told me I should check them out.
