The Main Event
Suicide defeated Chris Sabin and Kenny King to win the X-Division Championship. The match was pretty good, but you can expect that with three talents in the ring like this. Sabin coming back to TNA is such a treat for me because he has always been a guy that has worked hard and has always gotten better and better. Kenny King continues to be a talent in the ring, even though his character is lacking personality. He just seems flat to me when he tries to talk or use his body movements in the ring. During the match, Chris Sabin tried to attack with a fireman's carry but Suicide throws him into the corner, then he positions King on the turnbuckles that results in a Tower of Doom spot from all three men. The spot was great and really had the crowd get more excited as the match went on. The finish was when Suicide rolled up King with his tights and became X-Division champion.
-It was a strange ending, but Hulk Hogan came out with TJ Perkins and said that there is a fake Suicide in the ring. Later in the night, Hogan comes out and wants to know who is behind the mask. Bully Ray is in the ring as well. Suicide begins to talk until he unmasks. The man behind the mask is Austin Aries. This was an excellent swerve for TNA. No matter what your thoughts of Aries are, he is a talented guy who deserves to be in the main event. He had a brief stint in the tag division, but is better suited in a feud with Bully Ray. I also think this leaves the door open for Sabin to get revenge. He will be a critical part in the overall success of this angle, one that has taken an unexpected and new twist. It is a weekly show that tries so hard to get everyone to tune in the following week. This made me want to tune in next week.
