Rey Mysterio Returning…Again
Rey Mysterio says on Twitter regarding his return: "Great news today with Doc Andrews! Revisit on the 19th of June for a minor procedure and still trying to b back in the ring by late August!"
I was never a huge fan of Rey Mysterio, but I certainly enjoyed his work. And respect him. Plus, I completely understand why he's such a huge draw. He has the kid market nailed down and as long as they keep buying his masks, and they will, he'll forever have a place with WWE.
But will he be walking that entire time is the real question.
In no way is this WWE's fault either. I'm not blaming them. If Rey is cleared by doctors and he says he wants to continue wrestling, I would have a hard time telling him no too if I were Vince. But maybe it's time he should.
If that's not possible, limit him to WrestleMania only, or a maximum of two-three matches per year. I know he's not the Undertaker, but his "big money" drawing ability isn't the point. His health is.
Rey Mysterio only knows one speed: all out. That's great for fans, but horrible for your family who will have to be there years from now helping your ass get out of bed every morning.
I respect Rey Mysterio. I respect him even more every time he returns following injury just to go out there and injure himself all over again, as warped as that sounds. His heart and passion for this business is obvious, and admirable.
I'm just not so sure it's very "smart" anymore.
