Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar in a No Holds Barred Match with Triple H’s Career on the Line
Mike Killam:
This is one of the few matches I’m excited for as a wrestling fan. Triple H is one of my all-time favorites (deservedly so), but more importantly Paul Heyman is good enough to carry any program. I’m not sure how much Shawn Michaels is adding to the match just by being there, but if nothing else it will be interesting to see how he plays into the ultimate decision. I still think, if WWE really wanted to go all the way with this feud, Paul Heyman could reveal that WWE’s corporate job was also on the line, and take control of Monday Night Raw. Not likely, but it would be fantastic. Regardless, we’re going to get a knock-down, drag-out brawl that will probably get bloody. Triple H probably has too much at stake not to win, but there are worse things.
Nick Paglino:
Triple H’s full-time in-ring career might be over, but there is no need for his career to end completely, as he still has a lot to offer as a part-timer much like Brock Lesnar, Undertaker, The Rock, etc. The “career on the line” stipulation adds some needed drama to the match, and rumors of DX members accompanying HHH to ringside help add depth as well, but in the end I don’t think many people expect Triple H to lose this match and I don’t expect it either. My prediction is an extremely physical contest with a Triple H win. Is it the best move for Brock Lesnar? Not really, but then again I think Lesnar’s ship mostly sailed after he lost to Cena at Extreme Rules last year. He expects big money from WWE, not big wins.
Josh Isenberg:
This should be the most physical, brutal, and bloody affair of the night. I love the No Holds Barred match, as most forget that was the stipulation for Taker/Triple H at Wrestlemania 27. This is fitting for a real fighter in Brock Lesnar, but also gives The Game a chance to really unleash hell like we have seen time and time again. The career on the line was not needed, and I felt that Brock Lesnar will definitely lose this match because of that stipulation. When Triple H’s career is over, it will be more pomp and circumstance that playing second fiddle to The Rock and John Cena, as well as CM Punk and The Undertaker.
Brian Gulish:
For the WWE to make this a career match, as well as no holds barred, makes me shake my head. HHH will NOT retire from being an active member, even if only part-part time, from the WWE roster. Brock Lesnar will have a strong showing but, in the end, HHH puts the rivalry to rest with a sledgehammer shot to the heart of Brock following a pedigree. HHH gets the win w/ an assist from DX, his wife and Vince McMahon as well.
Bill Pritchard:
Besides thinking the career stipulation is unnecessary for a part-time wrestler, I never thought I’d be looking forward to this match, but I am. This match should be brutal, but it needs to be a quicker pace than their first encounter. HBK may think of throwing in the towel for his friend, but I’ll say HHH wins somehow and voluntary takes some time off after this.
