The Undertaker/CM Punk – One HUGE Step Up
The final moments of WWE Raw were incredible to me. Controversial, yes. But oh so compelling at the same time.
I won’t argue if you were uncomfortable, offended, or even disrespected by the segment. That’s your right and I fully understand it. UNLESS…you’re Paul Bearer’s son who read the script and STILL gave WWE his blessing. At that point, I’m afraid you don’t have a leg to stand on.
Then again, maybe WWE held the truth from him. Or blatantly lied. In which case….nope, still no right to complain. If you’re okay with some of it, you should be okay with all of it.
I still wonder what WWE had planned for this program had Paul Bearer not passed away. Who needs creativity when God’s hands can go to work and make things easy?
As far as the controversial surrounding at all, I have peace in believing William Moody would have wanted this. He would be loving this. And when you think about it, it makes sense too. When I die, I hope the people I’ve known find a way to continue using me in their daily lives as well.
For example, I hope my daughter keeps my love and advice in her heart when she makes decisions without me around.
I hope those that read my work continue thinking of me everytime they use my face for a dart board.
I hope the women I’ve loved (and loved on) continue to find ways for me to pleasure them when those that come after me can not.
I want my memory to live on in so many ways, on so many levels. I can only assume Paul Bearer would want the same. Thus, I think it’s incredible Paul Bearer is giving back one last time before he leaves us for good. And clearly, he’s going out with a bang.
Last night’s Raw finale sold this program and sold this entire event in 15 minutes or less. Yes, I’m aware I was already sold, but you should appreciate the exaggeration, nonetheless. I thought it was THAT good.
Creepy, uncomfortable and compelling – it was everything I remembered about the glory days of pro wrestling, as a kid, watching Undertaker and Paul Bearer every week and having nightmares consistently as a result. Add Punk and Heyman to the mix – it can’t get any better, right?
All that’s left is for the match to live up to the impossible expectations of the past four years with Taker and WrestleMania “Streak” matches. Again, it’s CM Punk, so I have no doubt it will.
Bring on Sunday. Bring on WrestleMania 29. It’s great to be a wrestling fan.
