John CenaJohn Cena – One Step Down

I’m not singling Cena out here, although I did in the headline; I don’t think this program altogether has been very good.

In every other sport AND in every other form of entertainment, rematches and sequels are at the very least “meant” to be better than than their predecessors. This story of redemption WWE has been feeding us has failed miserably. Especially compared to “Once in a Lifetime” just a year ago.

Rock’s absences have hurt, but they didn’t prevent this program from being better than what it is. Or is NOT, to be more accurate.

Even still, WWE has the opportunity to save it. They have the opportunity to save it this Sunday. They have the chance to make things right with the world, and all it takes is two words. Two words that both start with four letters. Rhymes with “Real Burn”.

But to those of you thinking they’ll take advantage of that opportunity this Sunday, especially after John Cena’s tease the past couple weeks, you’re wrong. You were wrong before and you’ll be wrong again this Sunday.

I believe Cena will turn bad again one day. But it won’t be anytime soon. Come this Sunday night, by 11:00 EST, we’ll be looking at John Cena, WWE Champion (again), and what will have changed since the last time he had the title? Not a thing. It won’t change the following Monday, or anytime soon thereafter either.

I went on a limb last year calling for the infamous heel turn that never happened. I swore never again. So, never again.

I still secretly hope I’m wrong.
