Stars in Progress: Fandango, Rhodes Scholars, Cena/Rock

FandangoFandango – One Step Up

I'm still not a fan of the gimmick of Fandango when thinking long term, and I could find a thousand things better for Chris Jericho to do at WrestleMania 29, but last night was a good night for both men involved.

The Philly crowd popped huge when Jericho attacked Fandago – of course, it was still early in the night at that point – and that made a difference. Jericho had a ton of intensity, as did Fandango, and it all seemed to click in the end.

Fandango didn't focus on the "cheesy" last night, aside from literally dancing above a laid-out Jericho, and keeping that to a minimum is best. His two physical, offensive spots – the kick to the face and the leg drop off the top – looked great as well.

I see a lot of fans discussing who wins at WrestleMania between these two. I could see it going either way, but considering Jericho is the "lite" version of The Rock right now, meaning he's in WWE, part-time, to put over other stars, my money is on Fandango.

From hate to love in a week, and most likely I'll be back to hating Fandango next week, but I try to give credit when it's due. Jericho, Creative, and Fandango all deserve praise for last night. It was very well done.
