Isenberg’s 2012 Year In Review: WWE Title Changes

Antonio CesaroUnited States Championship (4 Champions in 2012)

The Long Island Iced Z held the United States Championship to kick off 2012. Ryder won the gold from Ziggler in Baltimore at WWE TLC, but would drop it to Jack Swagger less than a month later. Shockingly enough, Swagger would lose the championship to Santino Marella in March. Santino would defend the championship sparingly until he would find himself in a match against Antonio Cesaro. The Swiss Sensation would defeat Marella at the WWE Summerslam preshow on Youtube, and hold the championship ever since. He defeated R-Truth in multiple matches, and continues to reign supreme in the mid card division.

Daniel BryanWWE Tag Team Championship (4 Champions in 2012)

Before injury, Evan Bourne and Kofi Kingston were the WWE Tag Team Champions to start the new year. They would be the champions until they ran into injuries, as well as Primo and Epico. Primo and Epico were the WWE Tag Team Champions for about three months, until Kofi Kingston and R-Truth would dethrone them. As the titles were rarely defended, it took Kane and Daniel Bryan to beat Kofi and Truth. Team Hell No would rule the rest of the calender year as WWE Tag Team Champions, defeating Prime Time Players and other random tag teams to hold onto the titles. They will begin the 2013 year as champions, and it seems that there are no plans to take it off of them.

EVEWWE Divas Championship (4 Champions in 2012)

In 2011, Beth Phoenix won the Divas Championship and would hold onto it for 6 months. It would take a random Nikki Bella victory for Beth to drop the championship. She would never get back that championship, but a few other Divas did. Nikki Bella held that title for only 6 days, as Layla returned from a serious injury at Extreme Rules to beat her. Layla held the title for quite some time in the WWE, even though most of us will forget that easily. Boston, Massachuttes saw the title change hands at Night of Champions, with Eve pinning the champion. Eve would face a few opponents since, including Kaitlyn, but that is about it. Eve is the Divas face and champion for the WWE heading into 2013.

2012 Total Champions: 22

2011 Total Champions: 37

2010 Total Champions: 28

It will be interesting to see what 2013's number holds. My guess will be higher, around 25. What are your predictions for 2013? Tweet me @JoshIsenberg4 on Twitter.
