The Miz – One Step Down
It doesn’t surprise me WWE is already concerned with how Miz’s recent face turn has gone. It’s kind of sucked, to be frank.
I think there’s two reasons why the turn didn’t go over very well. One, it wasn’t a very clear and understood transition. Secondly, the arrogant, cheesy way Miz handles himself in promos worked better when fans hated him. “Smug” isn’t a flattering attribute, and that’s how Miz comes across more than anything else.
WWE likely thought Miz would come off as a cool bad guy, a la Randy Orton, but it hasn’t worked out that way.
If the plan going forward is to continue with Miz as a babyface, he’s going to need to tweak his character just a bit. Miz TV is still a positive forum for him to get over his mic skills, but his attitude needs to convert into something cooler.
I believe he’s capable, but there’s still some work to do.
