The Undercard
Damien Sandow defeated Sin Cara to kick off the in ring action on Smackdown. The crowd was certainily into Sandow, who continues to thrive as an old school heel. He begins to take out the legs of Cara so he cannot use most of his offense. Sandow grappled Sin early and often, until Cara was able to get to the top and connect with a splash. The ending came when The Shield came out, threw Mysterio's mask in the ring, and Sandow connected with his finisher. Cara gets attacked after histhe match by the three men, and medics tend to him. This is a smart way for them to write off Cara and Mysterio, give The Shield more creditbility by attacking popular faces, and Sandow and Rhodes can move onto Team Hell No. This was good logic carried out. Grade: B
Santino Marella defeated Tensai . Tensai controlled the offense with headbutts and a body splash to the corner, but Marella would roll him up surprisingly for the win. This does not do anything for me, and is another example of wasted talent the WWE uses. Grade: D
Team Hell No and Kofi Kingston defeated Primetime Players and Wade Barrett in a great 6 man tag team match. The crowd was certainly into Daniel Bryan, who shined in the match. Young was the scapegoat during the match,as a Surfboard stretch and Kane's offensive flurry came to him. I really liked the physical interaction with Kane and Titus, two strong and athletic men who can pace themselves in the ring faster than most super heavyweights. All hell breaks loose when all the men get involved, and we see Kane chokeslam Young for the victory. The WWE was very careful when booking Kofi and Wade, their premiere mid card feud. Kingston and Wade got a little bit of action in, but it was about the tag team that continues to get buried that suffers a loss. I wish more for PTP, but they are stuck in a situation where other teams are getting more chances and taking them full steam ahead. Grade: B+
