Today marks the last time that any of us – unless you’re REALLY lucky and live another 100 years – will see a numerically redundant date on our calender.
12/12/12
This date holds no real significant meaning (although it would have been awesome if the Mayan’s had predicted the end of the world just a few days sooner…), but it did get me thinking about pro wrestling, and how many times various companies or wrestlers have used random dates to get over. TNA hosted Bound for Glory on 10/10/10. WWE and TNA went head-to-head on the first Monday of 2010. Chris Jericho even used the new millennium to make one of the greatest debuts in wrestling history!
So with today being a quasi-special kind of day, and the latest mysterious promo from TNA’s ever-ambiguous creative department starting to draw some speculation to the start of 2013, I thought we’d take a look back at some of the best (and worst) wrestling promos that capitalized on certain days in history.
