(3) Chavo & Hernandez retain the World Tag Team titles after a DQ from Matt Morgan
Matt Morgan pulled the referee out of the ring to break up a pin, after Chavo Guerrero delivered the Frog Splash to Joey Ryan. After Morgan refusing to follow the rules throughout the match, this was the final straw that saw the match end in disqualification. After the match, Morgan beat the hell out of Chavo until Hernandez made the save.
Typical heel vs. face tag team action. Ryan took a beating from Supermex, Chavo took a beating from Morgan. Keep the big guys away from each other until late into the match, to get a big pop when they inevitably try to knock each other down with clotheslines and/or shoulder tackles. I’d complain more about how stupid it is for a challenger to DQ himself when the title is on the line, but the match wouldn’t have been that great with a normal finish as it is.
I like Chavo Guerrero, and I like Hernandez. Actually the only person I’m not big on in this match is Joey Ryan, and he hasn’t even had enough time to convince me otherwise. I just don’t buy the heels as a tag team, or a couple of guys that need to be anywhere near each other. And LAX 2.0 works the same basic tag match on every single occasion. Beat down Chavo, hot tag, Supermex vaults over the rope and does some power moves, Chavo wins with the frog splash. NEXT!

(4) Austin Aries def. Bully Ray
Bully took a beating and got busted open, which resulted in Brooke Hogan showing her face. Aries cornered Ms. Hogan, which resulted in the Hulkster coming out and Bully making the save. As the Hogans made their exit, Aries hit a low blow and won with a roll-up victory.
Up until the finish they were moving at a pretty decent pace. What followed was textbook pro wrestling girlfriend/boyfriend material. The girl costs the guy his match, and at the end of the day the big bad Austin Aries got what he wanted. I think. What was it he wanted? Justice? Injustice? To be a member of the The Shield? To not be a transitional champ for Jeff Hardy?
Alright, well Aries didn’t get anything he wanted, but he did pick up the victory and we didn’t really move the chains any on this story. Aries is still a prick, Hulk Hogan is still getting involved without actually doing anything, and Brooke Hogan is still getting in everyone’s way. Just once when a wrestling company brings in somebody to do an on-air job – remember, Brooke is the head of the Knockouts division – I wish they’d do their damn job instead of getting involved with the biggest star the company has.
I guess that told a story with the finish, if you look really hard for it. Brooke did cost Bully hist match. This might create some tension between the two, and more tension between Hogan and Bully for putting the daughter in harms way. Of course, Hulk could also do the whole “I respect you because you stood up for my daughter” thing. But what fun would that be? We’ll find out on Impact if any of what I just said comes true, or if they’re just going to ignore the obvious and keep doing the same, tired material week after week.
