SAMOA JOE – ONE STEP DOWN
I’m fine with the title change. I have no problem with Devon being the recipient of it. But Samoa Joe is the epitomy of what I find wrong with TNA as a company. How can a guy that remains THAT over, despite very little help creatively, continue to go unnoticed by decision makers?
Samoa Joe is a unique breed of talent with a very special skill set. “Joe’s gonna kill you!” might just be another wrestling chant, but it’s one of the best available because Joe looks like a guy that’s actually going to kill someone. And in a fake sport, that’s hard to come by.
Maybe I’m biased. After all, Joe was another “internet darling” years ago, before he actually debuted with TNA. His work in ROH was heavily touted by the likes of me and other dirt sheet writers, and I still stand by that praise.
Dropping the TV title could be viewed as a positive thing for Samoa Joe, but I don’t give that much credit to TNA. They don’t seem to hold Joe in the same high regards that I do. That’s a shame, too. I may not always be right, but I am about this. I’m right about Joe.
