CM PUNK vs RYBACK
There’s a difference between winning and not losing. Tonight will be the prime example of that. CM Punk will retain his title, but he won’t get a clean win over Ryback. In fact, I stand by my theory that Ryback won’t lose at all.
The problem with Ryback losing is the fact that his gimmick is based on an undefeated streak. You don’t know how fans will react once that’s no longer the case.
The problem with Ryback winning is that although it might be a good short-term plan, he eventually has to lose. And it would have to be prior to the Rumble, which in case you don’t know, is right around the corner. There’s no way Ryback faces Rock.
I know what’s done is done, but I still have to assume WWE regrets making this match in the first place.
My prediction is simple: CM Punk will retain his title. I’m not positive how exactly, and I can’t guarantee that Ryback will escape without a blemish on his record, but I do not see any scenario where Ryback walks out the new WWE Champion. The risks are just too high.
One thing, however, is certain: I’ll be watching with bated breath. I’m just not sure if I’m watching more because I’m excited about the match or I’m just curious to see how they get themselves out of this conundrum.
Of course, I doubt they care the reason, as long as I’m watching.
