Stars in Progress: WWE Hell in a Cell Preview

KOFI KINGSTON vs THE MIZ

I’m taking the “see to believe” approach as it pertains to the rumored big push for Miz, but in either case, I can’t see him winning the Intercontinental Championship back tonight. Kofi’s push is fresh, and so far, seems to be getting over quite well with live audiences. That’s all you can really ask for this early into his reign.

It’s pretty incredible what WWE can do in such a short amount of time when they simply give a little effort and the IC and tag divisions are good examples of that. They have both come a long way in recent months. Now, they just need consistency.

As Kofi moves forward (I expect with the IC title), he needs to talk even more. Fans are not accustomed to hearing him in serious feuds and I think he’s fully capable of delivering.

Even further, I hope one of Kofi’s future challengers takes their feud to a more personal level. We need to hear more about Kofi’s past, childhood, etc. What makes him tick? Right now, I have no clue about any of those things.

And yes, that future challenger could easily be Miz, but I doubt he continues working Kofi after HIAC.

RANDY ORTON vs ALBERTO DEL RIO

I haven’t hated this feud as much as some people have. And personally, I don’t think those people are even justified in their hatred. Their reasoning continues to be about Del Rio and his inability to connect, and get over — well damn, what do you want him to do? Quit the entire business? Put Cesaro over in a NON-TITLE match?

ADR might not be suited for a world title right now, but he’s no longer in that role and you’re just still bitching. In fact, BIG SHOW is once again in that spot and somehow, you’re still making it about Del Rio! It’s getting pathetic really.

This is the perfect spot for Del Rio — working a non-title, non-main event program with Orton in which he’ll likely be putting him over in the end. What more do you want from the guy?

I have two predictions for this match:

1) Randy Orton wins.

2) People continue complaining about Alberto Del Rio after the fact, regardless the outcome.
