4. The Rock- Rise
Speaking of returns, The Rock could have made the biggest impact over the past year since Austin began his reign in the late 90’s. First, he hosted Wrestlemania 27, and quickly announced that he would face John Cena at Wrestlemania 28, one year later. After months of Via Satellite, Rock would come back to team with Cena against Miz and Truth at Survivor Series. This was basically a tune up for his match 4 months later. Nonetheless, he came back and dominated. Merchandise sales went through the roof, catch phrases blew up Twitter, and suddenly it was cool to watch wrestling again. At Raw 1,000. The Rock would announce that he would challenge the WWE Champion at Royal Rumble, and that was the point where we knew he would become WWE Champion once more. Not seen for 7 years in a wrestling aspect, The People’s Champion is back (sort of) and has risen to the top of the WWE. Is he justified in doing so? I would say yes, even if that upsets the hardcore fans.
